Last Week Recap

After an 0-2 start I’ve now won 6 of my last 7 this Spring FCS Season. Missouri State -2.5 was a sweat free winner as the Bears won 21-10 vs Youngstown State. Once the Bears made the switch at QB the offense got going and it was smooth sailing the rest of the way. Congrats to Missouri State on winning a share of the MVC Championship. I still think they will be on the outside looking in for the playoffs but we will see what happens this weekend. Stranger things have happened, maybe they will get a lot of help.

Week 10: Spring FCS

Sam Houston State/Incarnate Word Over 76 (-108) (Bookmaker)

DraftKings/Barstool has this one at 77 and I don’t see it up at FanDuel yet. I could see this one getting higher by game time so if you like it, I’d encourage you to jump on it early.

It looks Incarnate Word has cost themselves any chance at an at-large bid these last two weeks with losses to Nicholls and winless Northwestern State and their defense is primarily to blame for that. Over the last three games their defense has allowed 45 points on 551 yards in a win vs SE Louisiana, 75 points on 614 yards in a loss to Nicholls State, and 49 points on 707 yards to lowly Northwestern State. Brutal.

Sam Houston State is an offense capable of putting up big numbers. They put up 43 points on 672 yards against SE Louisiana, 71 points on 556 yards against Nicholls State, and 62 points on 504 yards against Lamar. Their offense has slowed down a little bit the last two weeks, but those were kind of let-down spots against the bottom feeders in the Southland Conference (Northwestern State & McNeese State). I think going up against the UIW defense is a great “get right” spot for the Sam Houston State offense which I think will definitely be a priority for them as this is their last chance to re-gain their mojo before the playoffs start.

The offense hasn’t been a problem for Incarnate Word. I think they have more than enough there to keep them in the game for awhile and incentivize Sam Houston State to keep scoring. Incarnate Word hasn’t scored less than 42 points all Spring season (not a typo).

They are led by Freshman QB Cameron Ward who has been an absolute monster all season. I think Sam will be the best defense they have seen all year but they will still get plenty of points.

I think this one will be a back and forth game in the first half and then Sam will eventually pull away in the second half when they get a few stops, but think it ends up somewhere around 50-35.
