General Season Thoughts

I’m very happy with how this season went. Any time you hit above 55% playing reasonable juice and ending up over 40 units I think it can be considered a successful season.

It felt very nice to bounce back after what I consider a disappointing 2022 season. Sports Betting is a grind. We do the best we can do maximize or edge and put ourselves in the best position to be successful but at the end of the day we aren’t on the field and sometimes the ball doesn’t bounce our way. It happens. Sometimes we may have a bad day, week or even a season. But now over the course of close to 500 official NCAAF wagers I have hit at 55% and have been successful at a long term profit. I’m proud of that.

This season the futures card and the Bowls/Postseason plays carried us with the regular season being slightly down. I wouldn’t necessarily draw any wild conclusions about that. Sports betting is a grind and you never know exactly when the hot streak may be coming. I do think there is something to be said for attacking futures card in the Summer though. I spend a ton of time in the Summer months deep diving these teams and betting futures plays while a lot of people aren’t even paying attention to the lines. I think we can continue to be successful in this area. Those of you that stayed with me over the Summer were rewarded with a really strong futures card and that makes me happy. In the same way, those of you that didn’t jump ship Week 4 or 7 or 8 were rewarded with a really profitable bowl season. That also makes me feel good.

Player props were my most profitable wager type this season and totals were my least profitable. Last season I was pretty strong with totals but this year I think maybe the new clock rules through me off. I’m hopeful that player props will continue to profitable next year. Those are fun and I’m optimistic that I have a good community of college fantasy sites to assist with this.

Overall from a betting standpoint I’ll take a season like this any year. I consider it a success.

Thank You

I want to thank everyone that supported me this season. Obviously Patreon subscriptions are great for me, but so are shout outs on social media/discord, friendly interactions, discussions about games, referring people to follow me on Twitter, etc. I truly appreciate you all.

My wife and I welcomed our first child into the world in late May. At times it was really hard to balance working full time & raising a baby with my MikeyLoBets commitments. At times I had to scale back on things like writeups or detailed posts. Nobody really complained and I appreciate that.

We had a really good group in the Patreon and I thank you all for that. The worst part about doing this is some of the people you have to deal with when you have bad weeks. Last year we had a bigger group and in retrospect I let that stuff get to me a little more than I should. I think I learned from that. This year we had a smaller group and with one or two exceptions everyone was very respectful and great to deal with. I truly appreciate that.

I’m not making life-changing quit your job money from this Patreon, but it is helping my wife & I pay for day care. Your support means a lot to me and I truly appreciate it!

What’s Next for MikeyLoBets

I’m planning on continuing to post College Basketball plays and I hope you’ll stay with me. I’m right around even on the season, but hope with more data and college football ending freeing up some time that I’ll really be able to attack that season right now.

I’m going to love every second of the Spring Football League the UFL (XFL/USFL merger). I geek out on that stuff and learn those teams really well. Those lines do move a lot so if you want to enjoy that ride with me (starting late March) make sure you’re in the Patreon.

Over the Summer I’ll be starting my NCAAF futures card and betting WNBA most likely.

Then in the Fall we start this all over again. I hope to see you again!

Respectfully,

Mike
